Troubleshooting

Offline devices, Wi-Fi problems, odd readings.

The device shows "Offline · cause unknown"

  1. Check the light. Off or no light at all usually means no power: check the USB adapter and the UPS.
  2. A slow blink means it can't reach Wi-Fi: check the router and the 2.4 GHz band, and whether the Wi-Fi password changed.
  3. No blinking but still offline: the PoP's internet may be down. The device buffers up to an hour of readings and sends them when it reconnects.
  4. Still stuck: hold BOOT for 5 seconds and set up Wi-Fi again.

The setup hotspot doesn't appear

  • The hotspot only opens when no Wi-Fi works. Hold BOOT for 5 seconds to open it on demand.
  • Wait 10 seconds after the light starts double-blinking, then refresh your phone's Wi-Fi list.

It won't connect to my Wi-Fi

  • The network must be 2.4 GHz. 5 GHz-only networks are invisible to the device.
  • Pick the network from the list instead of typing it. Some routers broadcast names with a trailing space.
  • Phone hotspots sometimes block the secure connection the device needs. Use the PoP's router where possible.

The light triple-blinks

The device is online but not yet added to an account. Add it with the claim code on its label.

"This device is linked to another PoPLense account"

Ask the previous owner to remove it under Manage → Remove device. If that isn't possible (for example a second-hand unit), contact support with the device ID and proof of purchase.

Readings look wrong

  • Make sure the device isn't in an AC airflow or equipment exhaust.
  • Compare with a reference thermometer and set a calibration offset under Manage → Settings.
  • "Sensor fault" means the sensor isn't responding. Contact support for a replacement.

I'm not getting push notifications

  • Check Notifications → This device shows "On for this device", then use Send test.
  • Allow notifications for the site in your phone's settings. On iPhone, open PoPLense from the Home Screen icon.
  • Check your minimum severity for push under Your notifications.
