Install the device
Where to mount it, power and the status light.
Where to mount it
- Inside the PoP room, at about rack height (1.2–1.8 m), where the air represents what your equipment breathes.
- Not directly in front of an AC outlet or behind equipment exhaust: both give misleading readings.
- Within range of the PoP's Wi-Fi. Aim for "Good" or better signal (−67 dBm or stronger) in the dashboard.
- Away from water and direct sunlight.
Power
Use any 5 V USB adapter of at least 1 A, plugged into a UPS-backed outlet. If the device is powered from the same UPS as your equipment and that UPS fails, the device goes offline too. You'll get a "device offline, cause unknown" alert rather than a power reading.
Safety: never connect mains (220 V) wiring to the device. Mains and UPS presence sensing uses certified, galvanically isolated modules that must be installed by a qualified electrician.
Calibration (optional)
Place a trusted thermometer next to the device for 15 minutes and compare. If they differ, open PoPs & devices → Manage and set a temperature offset (for example −1.5 °C). The device applies it on its next check-in.
The BOOT button
Hold the BOOT button for 5 seconds to reopen the Wi-Fi setup hotspot, for example after changing the PoP's Wi-Fi password.
