Alerts and notifications

Thresholds, push, email, NOC mailboxes.

What triggers an alert

AlertWhenSeverity
High temperatureAbove the PoP's warning level (default 26 °C) for 2 readings in a rowWarning
Critical temperatureAt or above the critical level (default 30 °C) for 2 readings; the same alert escalatesCritical
Device offlineNo data for 3 minutes (adjustable 2–15). Cause unknown: network, device or powerCritical
Sensor faultThe device is online but its sensor gives no valid readingsWarning
Mains failureMains absent, UPS supplying the load (needs power sensing installed)Warning
UPS output failure / power unavailableUPS output absent (needs power sensing installed)Critical

Alerts clear automatically: temperature when it falls below the warning level minus a 1 °C margin (hysteresis) for 2 readings, and offline alerts when data arrives again. Everyone notified gets a "Resolved" message.

Acknowledge and resolve

  • Acknowledge tells the team someone is on it and stops the 30-minute reminders.
  • Resolve closes the alert with a note. If the problem is still there, it reopens after 2 more readings.
  • Technicians and above can acknowledge and resolve.

Maintenance

During a planned maintenance window, alerts are still recorded but nobody is notified.

Push on iPhone

iOS only delivers web notifications to installed apps: in Safari tap Share → Add to Home Screen, open PoPLense from the Home Screen, then enable notifications.
