Quick start guide

From box to first alert in ten minutes.

What's in the box

  • PoPLense monitoring device with a QR claim label
  • USB cable (use a 5 V USB power adapter of at least 1 A)

Keep the label. The claim code on it links the device to your account. Treat it like a key until the device is added.

1. Create your account

  1. Go to popwatch in your browser and choose Start free trial.
  2. Enter your name, work email and a password, then confirm your email.
  3. Register your organization (for example your ISP's name). Your 14-day free trial starts now.

2. Add your PoP

  1. Open PoPs & devices → Add a PoP or a device.
  2. Enter the PoP name and a short code, for example "Mirpur-10 Core" and "MRP10".

3. Install and power the device

  1. Place it in the PoP room at rack height, away from AC outlets and equipment exhaust (see Install the device).
  2. Power it from a UPS-backed USB adapter, so it keeps reporting during power cuts.
  3. The blue light double-blinks: the device is ready for Wi-Fi setup.

4. Connect it to Wi-Fi with your phone

  1. On your phone, open Wi-Fi settings and join the network PoPLense-XXXXX (the last characters match the device ID).
  2. A setup page opens. If it doesn't, open a browser and go to 192.168.4.1.
  3. Choose the PoP's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, enter its password and tap Save and connect.
  4. The hotspot disappears and the light changes to a triple blink: connected and waiting to be added.

5. Add the device to your account

  1. Scan the QR code on the label with your phone camera, or open Add a PoP or a device and type the claim code.
  2. Choose the PoP where it's installed and tap Add device.
  3. Within a minute the device shows Online with temperature and humidity, and the light turns off.

6. Turn on alerts

  1. Open Notifications → Enable notifications on this device on each phone that should receive alerts.
  2. On iPhone, first add PoPLense to the Home Screen (Share → Add to Home Screen) and open it from there.
  3. Add your NOC mailbox under Alert contacts and invite your team under Team.

Default thresholds: warning above 26 °C, critical at 30 °C, offline after 3 minutes without data. Change them per PoP under PoPs & devices → Edit alert thresholds.
